We are all aware that the Government is lifting the remaining legal restrictions in relation to Covid 19 from 19th July.
As a healthcare provider and premises we still have a duty to reduce the spread of the virus. This, combined with our continued priority to keep our patients, visitors and team safe and well, means that we will continue to maintain our Covid security measures for the time being.
The Office of the Chief Dental Officer has recommended that dental practices maintain their COVID19 security measures, because the delta variant is more transmissible and infection rates are expected to rise.
We appreciate that this news will be unwelcome to some of you, and we are grateful for your ongoing support throughout this time.

Dentistry is an essential medical service, and The Grove Practice will remain open
We hope that you are all safe and well.
Further to the Government announcement this evening, we have received further guidance from the Chief Dental Officer and we can confirm that dental practices are to remain open.
The Government guidance on the national lockdown confirms that the majority of essential public services will continue, and you will be able to leave your home to visit them. This includes medical services like GPs and Dentists. “Dentistry is an essential medical service and patients are entitled to travel to medical appointments including dental.”
There have been no changes with regards to medical and dental treatment and you can keep your appointments to continue to improve and maintain your oral and general health.
We will continue to screen and triage patients and offer remote consultations. We may need to prioritise patients with the greatest need as the available capacity changes.
We are advising shielding or clinically vulnerable patients to delay any non-urgent dental care if possible. If you are not sure or have any specific questions about your treatment, please email email@example.com
Dental practices and their teams will also continue to remain frontline health staff and will be tested on a regular basis and our team has been tested already prior to restarting. At The Grove Practice we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards of cross infection control along with a robust screening and triaging policy to ensure the safety of all our patients and team. Additional disinfection time will continue to be reserved between appointments and the treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient.
Please ensure that you follow the arrival process as indicated in your appointment confirmation email or text.
Important things to note for when you attend:
Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we continue to work in the safest and most effective way we can. As the cases of Covid-19 are rising across the country and several areas of the country have had further restrictions put in place to reduce the spread of the virus, we wanted to update you to let you know what’s happening at the practice during the summer and the coming winter period.
If you have received our previous emails you will be aware that we have been working in accordance with national guidance and recommendations from our governing bodies, and we are continuing to do so as the pandemic continues to evolve.
As always, our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our patients and our team. For now, we continue to focus on the safe resumption of routine dental and specialist care including routine oral health assessments (examinations), hygiene treatments, specialist gum treatments and orthodontics. The team has been doing a fantastic job ensuring all the guidance is adopted to the highest levels and enhancing our infection control measures even more, to ensure the safest ways of working.
Nearly all the team are now back and working since the middle of August. The hygienist services have been very busy with the backlog we have had and we thank you for your continued patience if you’ve experienced a wait in getting to see us. We are working on this and will update you in due course as we increase the number of hygiene appointments available in the autumn and winter. We will, of course, continue to keep you informed if anything changes in the services we can offer during the pandemic.
We have included some information about different types of appointments below. If you have any questions, concerns, feedback or suggestions, please contact us using the usual methods. We welcome your thoughts, and again, thank you for all your support messages
we have been receiving during this period.
We are currently contacting patients via email, text or letter asking them to schedule their routine dental appointments. If you are overdue or have received a reminder, you can now schedule your routine oral health assessments and hygiene appointments online or by contacting us. If you are in the higher risk groups for COVID-19, such as a shielding group, please call the reception team, to organise a telephone consultation with your dentist instead of using the online system. Our reminders are being sent out in a way that allows us to see those patients who are most overdue because of the lockdown period along with those patients who are due now. This is so that we can provide a fair and appropriate service. If you require any dental treatment, the dentist or our Patient Liaison Team will book your appointments. Please note that as we are booking additional cleaning and disinfection time between every patient, and so the number of appointments in one day are at a reduced capacity and you may be waiting a little longer than what you are normally used to for your routine care.
We are providing free remote telephone and/or video consultations to discuss urgent and non-urgent concerns. Our dentists have remote consultation clinics dedicated to discuss any needs with you, be it about a troublesome tooth, or something you want to enquire about that may not seem urgent, such as teeth straightening. We are enjoying getting to talk to and meet both current and new prospective patients this way, and no query is too small. We are here for you.
Using remote consultations, we have been able to minimise the time you have to be in the practice, as well as ensuring it is safe and appropriate for you to attend before you come. Sometimes it has also helped to have a long chat over a video call without all the PPE on! If you have pain or require urgent treatment Please telephone the practice as soon as possible. The patient liaison team will arrange a same-day telephone or video call with a dentist, so that they can assess the problem and book the relevant appointment.
When we book your appointment we will ask you to:
● update your medical health and check your details via our online patient portal
● complete a covid-19 health screen questionnaire within 24 hours before attending your appointment.
This is a really important step towards keeping all of our patients and staff safe.
Please contact us to reschedule your appointment if you or anyone in your household and/or support bubble, in the last 14 days:
● have experienced symptoms associated with Covid-19, even if you don’t believe them to be Covid-19 and feel unwell.
● tested positive for Covid-19 or waiting a test result
● been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or been unwell with symptoms
● have been asked to self-isolate, even if you don’t have symptoms yourself
● have travelled outside the UK
● if you live in an area which is under additional restrictions
Our team are following the same guidelines and will not attend work in any of the situations listed above.
The practice, like all healthcare settings, is working within strict guidelines to ensure that they are Covid-19 secure. As we have the appropriate measures in place to maintain the safety of all patients, team and visitors, we are not currently required to utilise the NHS test and trace app within the practice. If this changes we will notify you as you attend.
If you have any questions relating to any aspect of this letter, or you would like to speak to someone about your individual circumstances and needs, please contact us by
telephone on 01926 423563 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing you again soon,
From everyone of us from The Grove Practice
